New bike & bus lanes now open!
Hi friends,
I hope you had a relaxing long weekend.
Did you hear the news?
Culver City just opened 1.5 miles of brand new bike and bus lanes connecting Culver City with the West Adams neighborhood!
This extension is 3 years in the making and opens up over 4 miles of continuous bike and bus lanes from Downtown Culver City to the city’s Eastern border.
This extension includes:
road resurfacing and filling potholes
concrete protected bike lanes with wheelchair accessible gaps and new bright green paint
bus lanes for expedited bus service
This project was funded by Measure M, the half cent county sales tax measure that passed with over 71% of the vote in 2016.
We can’t stop won’t stop making it easier to get around Culver City.
I biked the lanes with my husband, Aaron, this weekend, and had an easy, comfortable ride. Check out our video below!
Don’t forget to turn in your ballot by June 2!
Yes, Culver City doesn’t have a city eleciton in June (that one is coming in November.)
But this election is incredibly consequential not just for our country, but for California, LA County, and our neighboring LA City.
That’s why I’m sharing my picks for the June 2026 election! 🗳️
Whether you agree with these or not, what matters most is that you vote!
And do it by June 2nd — in person at a vote center, at a 24/7 drop box, or by mail. (see last image below for details!)
A balanced (and progressive) budget is revealed!
At our last meeting, the City Manger revealed his proposed budget for the 2026-2027 Fiscal year (which starts in July). There’s quite a lot to love in the budget, including but not limited to:
$2.5M for repairs to Bill Botts Field
Funding for a Universal Basic Income Pilot Program
Alley pavings
Street right of way improvements
$1,000,000 for sidewalk improvements (tripling our typical rate)
$2,000,000 for street resurfacing (doubling our typical rate)
$3M for safe streets projects (such as Better Overland and Safer Fox Hills)
$500,000 to enhance our treet canopy
$400,000 for a housing stability package
$1M in deferred maintainance of our parks facilities
$1.5M in future facilities planning
Community advocacy group Our Culver calls the budget “A balanced, progressive budget for Culver City.” You can learn more about this historic budget in their write-up here or watch our staff’s detailed presentation here.
One thing the budget did not initially include was the funding to support our Mobile Crisis Team’s planned expansion to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week service. So I spoke up at the meeting, and with support from my colleagues, directed staff to add those funds back into the budget.
The Mobile Crisis Team is a care-based intervention team of mental health and housing specialists available to help folks in crisis in Culver City.
This service diverts calls that have historically been handled by Police, and represents a major step toward a more modern public safety ecosystem.
You can learn more about the Mobile Crisis Team and contact their hotline anytime at (310) 253-5770.

Around Town!
Downtown Culver City welcomes Sweet Wheat and Cafe Luxxe!
More small businesses are choosing Culver City!
We just welcomed two new fantastic additions to our downtown— Cafe Luxxe and Sweet Wheat!
But our support for them doesn’t end at the ribbon cutting.
Last year, Council created a permit reimbursement fund to wave up to $5000 in permit fees for qualifying small businesses. We also approved a 4-month cohort program featuring workshops and advising to support our small businesses with the tools they need to succeed (coming soon).
Show these Culver City newcomers some love!
Stop by Cafe Luxxe for award-winning espresso and pastries and check out Sweet Wheat for an authentic French Bistro experience.
When our small businesses win, we all win.
Bike to Work Day!
I got a chance to stop by Bike to Work Day booth at the E-Line station on my way to work.
Thanks to our CC Bus team along with community groups Bike Culver City, Walk n’ Rollers, and our partners at Bird for marking the occasion with swag, resources, and tasty donuts to fuel your ride.
CC Bus was also fare free today for anyone who shows up with a helmet. In Culver City, we’re expanding safe bike, scooter, and pedestrian routes faster than ever.
No matter how you get around, you deserve an affordable, easy, and SAFE way to get to work. And we’re hard at work to make that happen!
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with me.
I hope you have a great week!
In serivce,
Vice Mayor Bubba Fish
