One year ago, ICE came to Culver City. They grabbed a beloved Culver City paletero, Ambrocio “Enrique” Lozano, off the street and put him in an unmarked van, leaving only his cart behind.
Tonight! Council Considers Citywide Drive-Through Ban
Tonight, the Culver City Council will vote on whether to ban new drive-throughs citywide. Also a new progressive legislative platform is adopted!
New bike & bus lanes now open!
Culver City just opened 1.5 miles of brand new bike and bus lanes connecting Culver City with the West Adams neighborhood! This extension is 3 years in the making and opens up over 4 miles of continuous bike and bus lanes from Downtown Culver City to the city’s Eastern border.
A big budget win!
By a vote of 4-1, the Council passed my motion directing staff to include $3M in next year’s budget for critical safe streets projects such as Better Overland and Safer Fox Hills projects.

Tonight at 7PM: major police accountability and oversight measures will be considered. Plus defining the uses of a $40M bond.

We approved the start of an alternative plan for SB-79, which will allow us to build even more homes near transit, where we need them most.
Plus, we agreed to apply for state funds to create a “right to legal counsel” pilot program to help keep low-income renters in their homes.

Bike lanes get brighter, two new free fare days for Culver CityBus are added, a gas station is required to get environmental approvals, homelessness is down, and other good news from the last Council meeting!
TONIGHT! Proposed Costco gas station near preschools returns + improving bike lanes
Tonight! Council will decide whether to appeal a CEQA exemption for a 30-pump Costco gas station near a daycare and a preschool and whether to make our bike lanes more visible, especially at night.
Major housing reforms pass and Vote16 back on the ballot in 2026!
Council voted 3-2 to place a measure on the 2026 ballot that, if passed, would lower the voting age to 16 for Culver City elections, including city council and school board. Plus major housing reforms passed!

Better overland protected bike lanes pass unanimously and a former gun store is set to become homes!
Plus tonight, we’ll decide whether to put Vote 16 on the 2026 ballot — allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in local elections.

The new year is already testing us with the murder of Alex Pretti, the 8th person ICE has killed since Trump took office.
