Join me tomorrow at the Housing Hero awards!
Hey friends,
I'm delighted to invite you to join me tomorrow night for the 2026 Housing Hero Awards in support of Abundant Housing LA's vital work to build a Los Angeles that everyone can afford.
2026 Housing Hero Awards Night
Thursday, April 23 at 6:30 PM
Johnny's Pastrami
4327 W Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018
I'm grateful to be receiving a Housing Hero award from Abundant Housing Los Angeles alongside fellow housing leaders LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, California Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson.
Our 2024 campaign was laser-focused on the affordability crisis and the lack of affordable housing for people of all backgrounds and incomes.
And looking back on the last year and a half since we won a seat on City Council, we have a lot to be proud of. The list of big housing wins is really something to behold:
Became the first city in California to enable single stair reform, enabling more homes on small lots (i.e. walk-up residential buildings like you see in NYC).
Funded and began construction on the 2nd (and the largest) 100% affordable housing project in Culver City’s history, providing 93 homes for low income families.
Approved the beginning of an SB-79 plan that will unlock thousands more homes nera major transit stops.
Became the 6th city in California to legalized buying and selling ADUs separately, unlocking naturally affordable homes for small families.
Approved a seven-story, 67-unit 100% affordable project, replacing a former gun store.
Approved lot-splitting ordinance, allowing up to 10 homes on a single family lot.
Expedited projects with 20% or more affordable homes, approving more homes, faster.
Removed owner-occupancy requirement for Junior ADUs.
Your continued support of my work in City Hall means the world to me and is the only reason we have been able to make such meaningful progress this year.
Bubba, I’d be honored to celebrate these major wins with you tomorrow evening at this special event supporting Abundant Housing LA.
I hope to see you there!
