Tomorrow at 6:30PM: you’re invited to join our townhall at Village Well!

Hey friends,

I hope you are doing okay and staying cool during this crazy heat wave.

Check out this page of resources on the city’s website for staying cool during heat waves and remember that the Culver City Senior Center is a designated cooling zone and is available during normal operating hours (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM Saturdys and Sundays, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Support Family of Killed Culver CityBus Driver

As you probably know, it’s been a heartbreaking week for our Culver City community.

My heart goes out to the family, friends, and coworkers of Bruce Rodriguez, the Culver CityBus operator killed on the job yesterday evening. He was a husband and father of two and a member of the Culver City family, and we are grieving this loss along with them.

My thoughts are also with the family and friends of the person riding a skateboard who was struck by a speeding driver on Wednesday night at National and Wesley and suffered severe injuries.

Our sympathy has to come with action.

Public Works is launching a study of safety improvements around the National/Wesley intersection, where we've seen too many incidents of traffic violence over the years.

We are also looking at improved protection for bus operators and other ways to keep our frontline employees safe.

Nobody should fear for their life when they come to work, or when they move through their own city.

Bus service has been suspended through the weekend to allow our operators to grieve, process, and protect their mental health and wellbeing.

You can apply to be reimbursed to your TAP card for travel expenses as a result of the lack of service up to $20 per trip here.

And if you are able, please consider donating to help support the family of Culver CityBus operator Bruce Rodriguez, a husband and father of two, during this incredibly difficult time.

Bruce spent his days making sure our neighbors got where they needed to go. Now it's our turn to show up for his family.
