My picks for 2026! 🌺🗳️

Hey friends,

It’s time to vote!

So without further ado, here are my full list of picks for 2026! 🌺

The stakes couldn't be higher. Yes, we need to win back the House and Senate, but we've also seen how much our votes matter right here at home. That's why I'm backing candidates who answer to working people, not corporate PACs.

Swipe for the leaders and measures I'm proud to support in Culver City and our neighboring communities.

Vote by Nov 3, and vote early! The safest options are voting in person or using a ballot drop box. The last slide shows locations in Culver City.

Happy voting! 🗳️

Young people urge a YES on Measure YV at Culver City Town Hall!

Young people are done waiting on the world to change! They’re ready to change it.

I was so impressed with the dedicated youth organizers of @vote16cc who made their case for Measure YV at a town hall hosted by Village Well last week. These young folks are already engaged in civics and ready to help shape the world around them.

Young people already work, pay taxes, and drive on our roads. And from climate change to our housing crisis, they‘ll live the longest with the consequences of the decisions leaders make today.

The disastrous Citizens United decision to the dismantling the Voting Rights Act to the President bribing the public for votes, our democracy is under threats like we have never seen before.

And Vote16 is a proven way to strengthen our democracy.

Research shows that 16 and 17 year olds are well equipped to make informed voting decisions, and that lowering the voting age boosts turnout in entire communities, and creates lifelong, consistent voters.

17 cities across the country have already lowered their voting age, and several countries including Austria, Brazil, Argentina, and the entire UK have followed suit.

That's why I’m proudly supporting Measure YV which would lower the voting age to 16 for local elections.

Culver City, I hope you’ll join me in voting YES on Measure YV! 🗳️

Council meeting tonight at 7PM!

There’s a Council meeting tonight with just one action item on the agenda:

A-1. Approve a community workforce agreement with the LA/OC Building and Construction Trades Council

Community workforce agreements (or project labor agreements) establish a base level of wages, working conditions, and benefits and are a great way to ensure that publicly funded projects are built to last.

You can watch tonight’s meeting on YouTube and if you want to participate, you can sign up to speak either on Zoom or in person at Council Chambers.

Thank you, Culver CityBus operators 💚

Mama Fish visited us last week and we took her on Culver CityBus to meet some friends for dinner. Watch the video above to see how she liked it.

Thank you Culver CityBus operators for all the moments you make possible. 💚

Girl Scouts assume the ‘dais’

Girl Scouts Troop 1066 invited me to share what it’s like to be a city councilmember to help them earn their “Brownies for Democracy” badge.

But instead of just talking about the job, we let them try it!

We arranged 5 desks into a ‘dais’, elected 5 councilmembers, and opened a public hearing about ‘how to improve El Marino Park.’ The budget was set for a million-billion dollars.

“Members of the public” shared their creative ideas one-by-one. Then a lively discussion ensued between the 5 councilmembers.

One member moved to build a new Sea World location complete with “every kind of water slide in the world.”

The motion passed 4-0 with one member abstaining.

The room erupted in both boos and cheers.

I told them that happens sometimes.

Thanks for having me Troop 1066!

Culver City celebrates International Walk to School Day!

There were too many smiles to count at our first International Walk to School Day open streets event on Elenda St! 🚶‍♀️🚲🛴

The City partnered with Walk ‘n Rollers to invite kids and families to get to school by walking, biking, scooting, or taking transit, with jump rope, hopscotch, and other activities along the way.

Since I joined Council, we’ve created two new, annual open streets celebrations.

Elenda Earth Day in April was such a success that we asked for a second one, and this Clean Air Day / International Walk to School Day was born.

Open streets events let us experience our streets without cars so we can better connect with our neighborhoods and with each other.

Here’s to many more!

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with me.

If you haven’t yet, go vote!!

In service,

Bubba
