This victory belongs to you.

Friends and neighbors—

I am so honored that Culver City voters have entrusted me with a seat at City Hall.

We are now confident that once all ballots have been counted, we will have won our race.

We embarked on this journey, because we shared a vision for our city: one with affordable housing, safe streets, and services that improve our everyday lives.

We also knew that winning as a grassroots campaign would be no easy feat. Sure enough, over $400,000 from mega-developers, police associations, landlord lobbyists, real estate investors, and MAGA millionaires poured into our race to defeat us.

These groups targeted voters with a misinformation campaign that lied about our record with the intent to buy this election.

Still, we stayed focused on connecting with our neighbors about the issues. We held dozens of meet-and-greets, attended six forums, wrote 2,500 postcards, put up nearly 400 yard and window signs, and knocked on almost 20,000 doors.

In the end, their special interest money was no match for our people power.

To everyone who walked with us, wrote postcards, put up signs, hosted us in your home, donated money, or simply offered words of encouragement along the way: we could not have done this without you.

And to the people of Culver City, including our residents, workers, business owners, and those who care deeply about our city’s future: this victory belongs to you.

I also want to congratulate Mayor McMorrin and Councilmember Vera on their decisive wins. Together with Vice Mayor O’Brien and Councilmember Puza, I am confident that we can make real progress toward a Culver City for all of us.

Finally, I want to commend my fellow candidates Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin, Denice Renteria, Adrian Gross, and Nancy Barba on a hard-fought race.

I was particularly inspired by Nancy’s candidacy as a sustainability professional, housing advocate, and working mom. And I’m grateful for her uplifting, issues-focused campaign.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in our ability to make lasting, impactful change together. Despite every obstacle we faced, you stood with us and propelled us to victory.

And now, because nothing can be accomplished alone, our work is just beginning.

While the results of the national election present unprecedented threats to our freedoms across the country, we have an opportunity to create a brighter, more inclusive future right here at home.

I hope you will join me in that work over these next four years. Your voice matters, and we will certainly need it to move our city forward.

Thank you for putting your trust in me. It’s an honor of a lifetime to serve as your next Councilmember.

With gratitude and hope for the future,

Bubba
